The following certificates (as officially certified printed copies; NOT via email, fax or in other electronic forms) must be enclosed with the application for determination of equivalence:

• Higher education entrance qualification certificate
• Translations of all documents which are not in the German, English or French language by an translator officially certified in Germany
• Certificate of examination for higher education entrance qualification, if applicable
• Certificate of enrolment at university and/or evidence of any completed periods of study and/or course attendance record, if applicable
• University degree certificate, if applicable

The enclosed documents must meet the following requirements:
(1) All translations must have been done by an officially certified translator.
(2) Only certified copies of  documents (certificates, translations, official decisions/communications, etc.) may be submitted (no original documents, no uncertified copies). Officially certified documents always bear the official seal of a German authority. No photocopies of documents which do NOT bear an official seal from Church authorities, health insurance schemes etc. shall be considered in processing applications.
(3) Should the name on the certificates not be identical to the applicant’s current name, an official certificate must be enclosed confirming the change of name (e.g. marriage certificate, etc.) with translation, if applicable.
Applications will be evaluated according to the standard German evaluation guidelines issued by the central office for foreign education (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen (ZaB)) in Bonn. The responsible body is the central coordination office (Zentrale Auslandskoordinationsstelle) for the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University. (Contact: See sidebox on the right.)
The Stuttgart office of the Federal State government (Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart) is responsible for evaluating foreign educational credentials by those with dual nationality (applicants with both German and another nationality).
